I have done the same thing on the canopy yoke that matches up with the
fusalage but my fingers are not strong enough to pull the canopy shut while
flying the plane.  The airflow sucks the canopyu about two inches from fully
closed position and there it stays. It requires auto pilot engagement and
two hands. A hand strap would be much better or a handle.
