The last
couple of times I have flown my LNC2 I have noticed that, with
the gear
down, the airstream noise from the nose gear tunnel is
significantly louder
than it used to be . Gear up it is normal. I have
checked
everything I could see in the nose gear area and in the tunnel.
I see
nothing different than I have seen over the last three years of
flying and
inspecting the plane. I put the plane on jacks and swung the
gear and
see nothing out of the ordinary. Any ideas of what could
cause
this?
Moondog,
Has the door on the strut that closes against the wheel well boot changed
position, become cracked or loosened?
Have you altered any interior or sound insulation around the nose gear
wheel well?
Have you tried to shake thing while extended on jacks to see if any
attachment point has loosened, including over center link at the strut?
Has the increased air density and cold temps set up a new situation
(shrinkage) that doesn't exit in warm weather?
Did you cover your oil cooler so that no cooler air is making its usual
exit near the strut?
How did your latest cold-weather in-flight emergency gear check sound at
slow speed?
Did you remove or add the bail around the rear of the nose
wheel?
Did you recently replace your hearing aid batteries?
Is your noise canceling headset working?
Has your Tinnitus been overly agitated by too much caffeine?
What
should I look for?
A possible trip to Florida to see if the noise is temperature
independent.
Higher medication dosage.
Ear plugs.
