I'm a IV not a 3x0 builder so take this idea with that in mind...

A friend's award winning Glassair (boo) III has a wonderfully simple flap
position system:  Small thin black lines painted on the top side of his
flap!  When the flap rotates out, more lines (that he placed in a controlled
fashion) show and he can instantly and unquestionably obtain his flap
setting.  Estimated weight < 1 ounce, Estimated cost <$1!

Hope this helps someone. I'm thinking about a small modification that will
allow this to work with the fowler flaps of the IV.
