Claudette, Page 10 of the September 2005 Sport Aviation also mentions that the FAA will issue a Federal Register "Notice" to describe the details of this issue. That document is suppose to be published within 2 weeks (it was delayed) - so, I'd rather look at that before responding to the below. EAA and the EAA Homebuilt Council have both talked to FAA HQ's on this - but the bottom line is that we all have to wait until the Federal Register Notice is published - as it does no good right now for the public to contact Mr. Paskiewicz until that Notice is published with the details. The basic issue is the preservation of the core 51% amateur-built aircraft construction rule - erosion of that core value could do harm to the homebuilt movement and freedoms as we know them today.
