They are not at all trying to stop all of us from building = our planes. They are only trying to enforce the long standing principals = spelled out in the definition of an amateur built aircraft. Today's = market place has evolved to the point that one can purchase and fully = complete a home built aircraft without ever physically touching the plane. = Every aspect of construction can be farmed out to hired guns. In order to = preserve the privilege of building aircraft that are in compliance with = the letter and the spirit the amateur built provisions, we should support = the efforts of the FAA and discourage the abuse of the amateur built = category. The EAA is not making a big deal of this because they too are = concerned about preserving the amateur-built class for all of us.
