George, what % power does the Allision/RR 450 have
left at 24,000? My calcs say 226hp assuming .65 sfc
vs. 254 for an xx-550 assuming .42 sfc
The poster that said "Will get
there a lot faster" I think meant an Allison 450shp will get to
altitude a lot faster
and then go about the same speed as a xx-550 but burning more
fuel. ....the main advantage being that
maybe it won't shake itself to bits like certain piston products
occasionally do, excellent fuel and ignition
management notwithstanding.
The Allison wouldn't suck with 120 gal
tanks. e.g. 4:45 useful cruise would get you at least
1200nm
in a IVP I would think
