I never forget to transfer fuel to the header tank. I just forget to shut
transfer pumps off. Not indefinately, but usually long enough to stain the
bottom of the aircraft. " Ah #@&%$*+!!!", say I, or some similar expletive.
The vast majority of you have never done this, but there may be another soul
out there who experiences the occassional "senior moment". Take heart. I
found the solution - the Vibralite3 watch from Global Assitive Devices. When
the alarm goes off it VIBRATES. (No wise cracks) It was designed for the
sight-impaired, (Again, no wise cracks), but is perfect for a noisy cockpit.
When I flip the transfer pumps on, I start the count down timer. Four minutes
later, the vibrating on my wrist reminds to turn 'em off. Perfect! No more
post-flight belly polishing.
