Some of you my remember the 1999 air race at Redmond.  I sure do because
that's when and where I blew the landing gear out from under my 360.  It has
taken a long time to fix the damage, make some improvements and add some good
stuff.
 This week N79Y flew again!!!!

All the recent discussion about training, judgement, skill and how to improve
safety has caused me to relive, many times, the 60 seconds I had from being at
1000 agl at full power to being on the ground.  Fortunately I had enough good
judgement and skill to have walked away from the crash, but the sad reality
was that with better skill and awareness I could have avoided a five year fix
it project and saved about twenty grand.  If anyone is interested, I'll be
happy
 to go into details later.

My plane is a bit different than the majority of the 320/360  Lancairs in
that it sports a Lycoming TIO360 C1A6D.  The  engine specs are 210 hp at 44
inches and 2575 rpm.  At FL240 it will still produce 150 hp.  We normally
cruise above
18000 ft at about 220 to 230 knots on about 10.5 gph.  Makes for an
economical traveling machine.  Again, if anyone is interested, I'll give more
details later.

It's great to be back in the air!!!!  I promised myself that I will perform a
thorough flight test program rather than just joy ride around, but for now,
I'm having too much fun.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the up coming flyins.
