I think Chelton is better than most of the other "glass" out there.
Some of that stuff has very weak software. There's a guy at my airport
with Blue Mountain that has had reboots in flight over and over. I
talked to my connection at UPSAT, which is now Garmin AT at SNF. He told
me that I would be blown away with what you need to do to produce "airworthy"
software. Most of these new companies get it to work, but spend very
little time making an airworthy unit. Chelton is really more of a real
avionics company than the newcomers.
It'll be interesting to see how some of these companies do when the try
for certification. Chelton has already made it through the FAA
gauntlet.
