Compare the numbers. 3 Blade MT Type Props vs. 2 Blade Hartzell Type For The Lancair 320 3 Blade MT diameter less than 67 inches 2 Blade Hartzell diameter 70 inches If the Hartzell contacts the ground there goes $6,450.00 Engine tear down and inspection $you fill in the blank If the MT contacts the ground you replace blades and inspect hub The prop is spruce wood and considered frangible The chances of the MT type prop striking the ground are reduced by more than 1 1/2 inches. The Airmaster Prop is coming up from the land down under, to give MT Props competition. The address is http://www.propellor.com The Airmaster Prop is 2/3 the price of the MT If you paid the price for the MT, a prop strike is still cheaper than a prop strike with the Hartzell 2 blade. If the Airmaster Prop is sold at it's forcast price you are way ahead of the Hartzell and the MT pricing. The 3 blade lends a sexy appearance the two blade can't approach. The 3 bladed props are about 30 pounds lighter than a Hartzell 2 blade.
