About 6 weeks ago, I received a renewal notice from AOPA Insurance to cover the
kit components for my IV-P. I sent the documentation and the check back to them
via the return envelope to an address in Ft. Worth TX.
Last week, I got a call from an AOPA rep in Kansas reminding me that my
insurance was going to expire at the end of this month. I mentioned that he must
be relying on old information because I sent them the funds and paperwork weeks
ago. When I told him the payment went to Ft. Worth, he said they don't have an
office in Ft. Worth. That sent both of us rechecking our information.
A few hours later he called back to say that AOPA has no record of the
transaction, and oh by the way, the bill for the insurance is $90 higher than
the check I sent them earlier. He said that he would have the necessary
paperwork resent.
I got that paperwork today, and the new amount is indeed $90 higher. It came
from Ft. Worth TX, with a return envelope to Ft. Worth TX.
I'm curious to know if anyone else has had their payment "lost" and subsequent
premium rise by AOPA Insurance. I'm always suspicious when a comedy of errors is
in the other guys favor.
