If you're talking about the blue fineline tape, it comes off great, even after a year.  It's the electrical tape that is a pain to get the residue off the plexiglass.  I installed my ES windows at Lancair.  We used 1/4" blue tape around the edges, then some black electrical tape, then 2" masking tape for the rest of the windows.  The only tape that was difficult to remove was the electrical tape.  I used Ronsonol to get it off, with some elbow grease.  The blue tape is fairly expensive, that probably explains why Lancair doesn't use the wider widths instead of electrical tape.
