To Brent and the Group.
Brent is correct in saying that you have to properly install the components
of a complex system such as the hydraulic system on a Lancair.
On the other hand the dump valve supplied with my 235 kit is a typical
plumbing ball valve rated at 125 PSI WOG.
As a machanical engineer I have specified thousands of them for domestic
plumbing systems.
It is not reasomable to expect a valve rated at 125 PSI to reliably isolate
500 PSI from 1,200 PSI and them both from atmospheric pressure.
The valve I used cost $35.00.
Hank - San Mateo, Ca.
[I spoke with Orin this afternoon and the dump valve came up during our
conversation. It is my understanding that Lancair is going to be providing
a new valve on all future kits and is willing to make this higher capacity
replacement valve available to present kit owners at their cost of about
$16. (Orin, please correct me if I'm speaking 'out of school' here.)
This should lay that problem to rest once and for all. <Marv> ]
