I was flying my ES on its first long trip to Sun N' Fun last year when ATC asked my position.... Hmmm.... I can't tell him I'm 146 miles west of OKC, hmmmmm, where am I? I bought myself a little time, felt like an idiot. I ended up using the nearest function on the CNX 80, switched to the nearest VOR and got a radial and distance. Whew! A lot of the basics we learned back in the old days, require us break old habits today. We need to learn how to use the new boxes and screens.
