Unfortunately there is no way to know how many Lancairs are out there flying and how many hours they have accumulated. The NTSB and FAA and Lancair do not track that information. Lancair could tell us how many kits they have sold. What is interesting is that many of the accidents are (1) Loss of Control related (Stall spin) or loss of control;  (2) takeoff and landing accidents; (3) and too many are weather related (Tstorm or VFR into IMC). A lot of accidents are happening to Lancair drivers with less than 500 hours in make and model. And of course a lot happen because as Brent Regan says, "they let the kid fly the airplane..." see Chuck Brenners accident.
