Tell me more about this
accelerometer you referenced. I did not know there was one in the
box. I can at times feel the stick moving for/aft significantly and the
plane change pitch noticeably, in smooth air, perfectly trimmed, with no
apparent justification according to the altimeter. Could it be that the
accelerometer has failed??? But, sometime my altitude hold works well,
at least for a time, so.....
It really seems to me that if we
were to describe all this to the S-TEC programmer guy, he'd be able to
diagnose it in a heartbeat. That'll be my next direction after some more
flight tests.
As a last resort, we can pair up
and fly down to Texas in formation for some S-TEC quality time.
Ed,
Note that Lancair is not listed in the S-Tec kitplanes List:
See page 6 of this pdf for an explanation of the accelerometer:
I think the accelerometer is in the computer box but I will ask when I call
S-Tec next.
How is your pitch servo / elevator control set up? Is elevator
neutral set at the center of the servo movement?
Did I originally offset the hook up to lessen the sensitivity? Am I
losing my memory? Should I just go back to the padded cell?
If we fly to TX on altitude hold will we porpoise at the same time?
Call me (cell 630-561-0400) and we can talk amongst ourselves.
