Scott - Wow! Sounds like you've
got the same symptoms I've got. Started happening to me this last April
(Sun spot activity?) although that was the hard pitch commands. The
porpoising has been sporadic since first flight 4 years ago (300 hours on the
plane).
As I think I mentioned, I've isolated
the transducer connector out of the picture, it's not that. Could be the
computer connector I suppose, but I've never touched my box nor the connector
(since the factory built the panel originally).
I'm hopeful that by putting a
voltmeter on the three transducer wires, I can positively rule it in or out as
the problem. And if I'm clever in my jumper wire setup, I'll be able to
"fail" the transducer and see if the symptoms repeat.
Tell me more about this accelerometer
you referenced. I did not know there was one in the box. I can at
times feel the stick moving for/aft significantly and the plane change pitch
noticeably, in smooth air, perfectly trimmed, with no apparent justification
according to the altimeter. Could it be that the accelerometer has
failed??? But, sometime my altitude hold works well, at least for a time,
so.....
It really seems to me that if we were
to describe all this to the S-TEC programmer guy, he'd be able to diagnose it in
a heartbeat. That'll be my next direction after some more flight
tests.
As a last resort, we can pair up and
fly down to Texas in formation for some S-TEC quality time.
