I did it to have a quality rebuilt engine (Victor's), not to save much money over an IO-550 from Lancair's price list. An IO-520 with turbocharger will not fit because the turbo's position is below #1 cylinder, and with the angle of the firewall, not even a close fit, way too much engineering needed. You have to want to fiddle a bit with the installation to make a 520 fit. No big items, standard mount, prop and exhaust. On the positive side cruise at 200k, burning 13gph at 12,500.
