Methylene Chloride, also known as Dichloromethane or 1,1-dichloromethane, or
MeCl2 is frequently recycled and may contain oils---oils are bad.

Check the purity by pouring some  on a clean sheet of glass, and if you see
streaking of any kind when it evaporates, dont use it.
