Does anyone have any experience with this system..it looks and sounds
fantastic for $2,000..is this too good to be true?
Gerard,
I
helped a friend install one on his RV-8 as his primary (only) attitude
indicator. He flew the airplane for a year or so without an attitude
indicator--VFR only). The Dynon unit has performed extremely well over the
past year. He included the internal battery but elected not to install the
remote magnetic heading sensor, and sees up to 4 degrees of heading
error on some headings--which he considers acceptable. He did not install
the pitot tube with AoA, but intends a refit now that this option is
available. I liked it enough to add it -- as a secondary system--to my
IV-P.
I
found the internal battery and associated ability to operate independently of
aircraft power a compelling attribute. I'd be particularly interested in how
this unit stands up to internal aircraft electrical/radio noise, and even more
about its ability to operate after a lightning strike if anyone has such
experience.
