Not a wizard, but I have lots of books:

A mil is 0.001 inch.

A circular mil is the area of a circle 1 mil [.001] in diameter, which is
pi x .0005^2. or .0000007854 square inches or 7.854 x 10^-07 sq. in.

To convert circular mils to square inches, multiply by 7.854 x 10^-07.

#4 wire is 41,740 circular mills = 0.03278 sq. inches (source: American
Electricians' Handbook), so...

So a .090 strap would need to be 0.36 inches wide to be equivalent to a #4
AWG cable. I hope this is right...
