Before installation I noticed the flanges were not 100% perpendicular with
the tubes. Bolted together this would not produce a straight torque tube. If
the tube bearings were aligned using the actual parts as a guide, the bearings
would not be concentric and you would get a lot of friction in the bearings,
as well as, stress in the weld while trying to rotate the installed tubes. In
order to properly align all the bushing, I used a single copper pipe of the
same diameter as a guide for all the bearings. If needed, the flanges on the
torque tubes can be shimmed during installation, but at least the bearings are
aligned and you should have consistent friction through 360 degrees of
rotation.
