Hi Jim
I do have some pics but they are at work and I'm on vacation...sort of. Actually I'm building a carbon fiber hot tub cover if you can believe it. An interesting project and big $$$. But it has to meet code and be very stiff so carbon works well. Anyway, I'll probably have to get in to work to get pictures but the barrier is a 1/2 lb/sq. ft. barium/vinyl sheet. For the floor, I have a sandwich of Nomex/barrier/Nomex. For the firewall, I used 1/2" fiberglass against the firewall, then barrier and foam absorber on the inside. The firewall blanket was covered in film but the felt/barrier/felt was placed under carpet so it didn't need anything.
I also used 1/2" of felt on top of the glareshield. This helped damp the noise from the firewall that did escape and absorb noise generated from the canopy. That was covered with a fire retardant black wool/polyester blend cover. This made it look plush while getting rid of some noise.
One thing to make CRTAIN of is that ANY barrier type blanket MUST have a tight fit. If you can make it to OSK, I'll be talking a lot about that. If not, there is an article I wrote for Sport Aviation that is suppose to publish some time this year, (I wish they could be more specific as to when).
