MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1" Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit User-Agent: Internet Messaging Program (IMP) 4.0-cvs If you're under about 6'2" and don't mind packing light, the 235 is an excellent cross country cruiser. Depending on the fuel capacity, engine choice, and your personal limits, the 235 might make the trip with no stops. I'd plan on at least one stop for my own personal comfort. With an O-320 burning somewhere around 8-10 gph, I flight plan for 170 kts average and cruise at 9500 to 12500 MSL (about 21" MAP). Weight behind the seat is limited to about 100 lbs, depending on your airplane's W&B. if you are flying solo, you can pack your heavy gear in the passenger footwell, and the bulky gear behind the seat. > I am seriously considering purchasing a Lancair 235 for making 3 or 4 > trips a year between Colorado and California (about 642 nm). Currently > I fly a Cessna Skylane and it maybe averages 120kts. If you like, I could probably find someone to fly it for you the other 353 days per year :-) - bob mackey flying a 235 building a 320 103MD -at- pure-flight.com [use this email address - the one at the top is spam bait]
