Guys,
Just to give everybody an update.
We currently have a shipment of bearings that should arrive in less than two
weeks. The rotational breaking force is much lower. You can easily move
with your hand. This will allow people to actually clamp the inner bearing
as it should be. This should eliminate bolt wear completely. Hopefully
this will also keep the bearing from hammering the aluminum. We will see.
Shannon has the first set. He flies quite a bit. He is going to keep me
posted.
Another aid to this problem we are looking at is "staking" the bearings in
place rather than a press fit. The bearings definitely will not come out.
To the point, when you replace the bearing you will need to replace the
entire bearing block. We could accomplish the same thing with a "green"
bearing loctite if we put the bearings in with a slight clearance, but this
can have other issues.
We are aware of the issue and are trying to address it.
I will keep you posted.
