I have a
Vision Microsystems EPI 800 system. Regarding the EGT & CHT wiring,
the
manual has this comment "We recommend coiling any excess wire you may
have
at the DPU rather than trying to cut it." I have about 2' to 3' of
extra
wire (varies as there are 8 wires). Is there any reason they can't be
cut
other that since they are braided stainless covered and shortening won't
be
easy? Also, the same with all the rest of the sensor wires. Any reason
they
can't be shortened? All together this comprises about 30 to 40' of
extra
multi-strand heavy bulky "where am I going to stash it"
weight.
Greg,
Call VM and ask. Old temperature sensors (circa 1990) depended
on the resistance in the wire - thus the wires could not be cut.
I am not sure that newer ones suffer the same requirement. It wouldn't be
the first time documentation didn't match actual operation.
Also, sensors occasionally fail and need to be replaced - make sure
you leave some excess wire in the engine compartment.
Don't know nuttin about no wooden prop.
