Based on the input I've gotten (some off-list) and a conversation with
Vern, I'm going to have rods fabricated to match the length of the old
rods.  Both Vern and Grayhawk urged me to avoid re-rigging the flap
system if at all possible if the plane flies satisfactorily as it is
currently rigged, which it does.  In case anybody is wondering, the rods
are 4130 hardened after threading.
