engine running while in flight, and therefore am critical of anything inserted
into my engine oil system."
One feature of a preoiler is a one way check valve
on the output side that isolates the pump once the engine is making
it's own oil pressure. Unless that valve fails for some reason, I don't
view the preoiler as an addition to the oil system as much as a branch that
is closes itself off when not in use. For me, the benefits of preoiling my
engine, especially after it hasn't run for some time, outweigh any
perceived potential risks.
