Until recently I was building the hinges myself and adequate inventory was often hit and miss. We have now contracted with a composite company to build the hinges and they are popping them out at a steady and terrific rate. Also, the process has been changed in one or two ways and this has led to a better and better looking product. Because of these changes coupled with a move to a smaller pin size, we decided to retest the hinges for strength. We performed a static pull test on a 2" piece of the hinge and found that the limit load for this sample was 1,000 pounds. The pin deformed very slightly at this load. With this data, we have increased our rating for Carbinge from 1,000 lbs per foot to 3,000 lbs per foot with a 100% safety factor. Also, we are now marketing a retainer system for cowling, and wingtip attachment pins that we have named "Carbinge Keepers". These were designed and are made by Bud Scott and you can see them as well as updated information on Carbinge at our website www.carbinge.com Regards, John Barrett
