sadly this weekend while checking on my alternator failure I discovered a prop strike on one of the three hartzell scimitar blades on my IV. The only landing I recall was at Las Cruces which is paved and we did not get of the runway or taxiways during our stay there. I called Hartzell and they send me their specs. I removed the spinner and the only missing thing is a rivet head from one of the k-nuts that hold the spinner to the rear round glass cover. the rivet head in all other k-nuts are intact and in place but look a bit larger suggesting some movement but not loose yet. I will have to repair the one loose and consider glassing the exposed ends externally around the ring to prevent another similar problem. I am not sure that the rivet head did the damage since the damage is larger than the head. I have a 6 mm ulcer at the rear edge of the blade, some distortion of the rear edge for 4 cms from the ulcer to the hub and a 3 mm crater in the center of the posterior aspect of the blade closer to the hub probably 3inches from the junction between spinner and exposed blade. Hartzell suggests limits for repair to be 6.5 mm at either edge and 3,5 mm along the core. anyone can share experience and suggest alternatives. I flew the plane 500 miles and did not note any vibrations or differences in flight behavior.
