The FAA has a publication for retrofitting shoulder harnesses that I used for a spam can.  One thing the local FSDO required for the 337 Field Approval was a pull test that loaded each anchor point to about 400 lbs, if my memory is correct.  That is A LOT of pull friends!

If the seat back is beefed up to hold 800 lbs plus the anchor point reinforcements we could be talking about A LOT of added weight too.  That assumes the load test for composites is the same as aluminum.  I like the convenience of not having the harnesses in the way but maybe the stock system should be considered for it's merits of lighter weight and pre-engineering.  I am adding Rear Window Access, Boarding Steps, 2 Axis Auto Pilot, etc. - - - - it all adds up.
