Gary,

The antenna I have has front and back and has to be mounted as such.

I mounted my Stormscope antenna on the bottom of the fuselage at the rear and 
used copper screen for a ground plane per Lancair Avionics. It appears to work 
fine as witnessed by the trip to/from Oskosh this year.
