That location gave me the best opportunity to put in a good size ground plane. I had some noise problems that I recently eliminated and am now waiting for some weather to look at, but we don't get a lot of convective activity in Southern California. I'm told that it should be OK there by the manufacturer, but I haven't done any skin mapping to see if it's the best place. I know that other builders have put theirs in the same place. Skip Slater
