What kind of speed do you get out of your 360's or Legacy's at low fuel burn rates of 6 or 7 gph? 

(I know it's weird to even operate at these low fuel burns but I am curious how the efficiency of these planes compares to the new Rotax powered 2 seaters out there.  The best of them burn 5.5 gph and do about 160 mph, or 29 miles per gallon.)

In my 320, returning from Redmond at 13,500 and running ROP (Best Power), I was using 7.5 gph at a 220 mph TAS. 

 

Let's look at an 800 statute mile comparison -

 

Rotax: 160 mph @ 5.5 gph would take 5 hours and use 27.5 gallons (29 mpg)

 

My Lancair: 220 mph @ 7.5 gph would take about 3.6 hours and use 27 gallons (29 mpg).

 

I would save 1:20 and a $1.50 (gas at $3.00/gal) - enough for a cup of coffee while I waited for the Rotax.
