What brand of regulator did you

anything else change when you replaced the regulator?
Larry,
I replaced it with another B&C LR3C regulator. see:
I believe the original one (about 400 hours Tach Time) may have
been heat damaged (another story). If I had the space, it would be
moved from the engine compartment to the cockpit. I do have a blast tube
aimed at it now. I still have the failed regulator in my parts drawer and
I have heard of another similar failure where the voltage was subsequently
adjusted and is still in service.
I think B&C products are generally very good as I am also using
their 28 AH sealed battery, 60 amp alternator, starter and starter
relay. Except for their class of batteries that I have used from the very
beginning, all of their products have replaced other manufacturer's defective
or underperforming parts. This list includes Lancair's starter relay,
Skytech light weight starter, somebody's unremembered alternator and Lamar
regulator. I have enough spare parts to build another airplane but I
would never fly in it.
