How important is it to have the gear door attach pin parallel to the gear
weldment??

[Pine, I assume you are referring to the outer gear door hinge...
I would say that the critical alignment issue with that hinge is relative to
the gear door cutout as opposed to the fore-aft member of the weldment.
You must insure that the hinge is perpendicular to your gear door
cutout, referenced to the straight legs of the coutout that run spanwise
from the outboard end inboard.  If your hinge isn't square to those lines
you may experience some binding of the door in its opening when the gear
are cycled.  The little turnbuckle that you manufactured which attaches
the door to the weldment should self-align if the hinge and weldment aren't
parallel.  I hope this helps.
