Pix of install are in http://www.lancaironline.net/pix/shannon-may03/ Specifics: http://www.lancaironline.net/pix/shannon-may03/copilot_gear_camera shows one of the cameras mounted under the seat pointing into the gear well. http://www.lancaironline.net/pix/shannon-may03/inner_gear_door shows the gear well with the camera sticking in. http://www.lancaironline.net/pix/shannon-may03/nose_gear_camera shows the nose gear camera. This one is actually pretty cool, as it is pretty handing when taxiing too. http://www.lancaironline.net/pix/shannon-may03/pilot_gear_camera shows pilot camera mount. I am using a 8-way video multiplexer from a company called Ontrak, http://www.ontrak.net/avr8000.htm I have a 5 way selector switch in the upper right of the panel that selects one of 5 sources to display: Left gear, front gear, right gear, DVD, and other. http://www.lancaironline.net/pix/shannon-mar03/panel_copilot in the upper right corner of the panel shows the switch. This switch completes a circuit between the return and one of the 8 lines on MUX (only five used for my app). Also in this pic you can see along the lower left of the copilot side of the panel there a switch called EXT VIDEO. This is what takes the Avidyne display out of moving map mode into NTSC external video mode. I'm using the NTSC compatible video input on the new Avidyne FlightMax EX500 to display the video. http://www.lancaironline.net/pix/shannon-mar03/panel_avidyne_displaying_ peter_camera shows the camera pointed at Peter Stile during testing. The Avidyne is an incredible piece with a wonderful display and a great presentation of a moving map. It is fast (unlike the MX20), and I'm really happy with it. I highly suggest it, especially as it is the only screen available with a video input. Mine are mounted permanently. The cost to add this was just over 500 dollars, and I feel it was definitely worth it, even if I hadn't experienced the problems I have with the sequence. The taxiing benefit alone is worth that to me, and having a quick check during my pre-landing checklist definitely inspires confidence and safety. --- Shannon Knoepflein <---> kycshann@kyol.net Barry wrote: Gear well cameras...great idea!
