I haven't flown yet, but in the places where the manual called for
drilling through the window, I welded a 90 degree plate on the door actuator
bracket so that the inboard bolts travel parallel to the window through the
actuator channel. If you look at the stress on the door under pressure, you
will see that the inboard bolt does not carry much load. The outboard bolt
carries the door latch load, while the inboard largely positions the
actuator for its motion.
I sent a sample to Lancair several years ago, and they blessed it.
