Jim: I have the Precise Flight Speed Brakes with the control motor mounted on the center of the forward face of the gear box. They operate on battery without any need for alternator. I believe that I have measured the current draw sometime in the past but as I recall, it wasnt appreciable. If I can locate the info, I will include it here.
BTW, I understand that the newer speed brakes operate without the need for cables penetrating the cabin so maybe the higher current draw is the price you pay for being modern...???
