Cut straight forward from the rear edge of the = lower cowling about 9 inches, making one cut on each side, even with the = exhaust tunnels on the fuselage. Then cut in toward the center of the = flap from the end of each cut, but not all the way -- leave about 2 = inches uncut in the middle. Now you can bend the flaps down about an = inch and a quarter or so, hold them in place with popsicle sticks and = crazy glue and use a 2- or 3-bid layup on inside and out to make some = sides. You end up with something that looks like a permanently open cowl = flap on each side. This gives adequate clearance for the pipes, and = also increases the negative pressure area for cooling air. A little = micro to fair it all in, and it's done. Don't cost nuthin', and you don't have to wait three months. I've = done it that way on two ES's and it worked fine.
