Ream the holes to accomodate the larger bolts. Level the aircraft, then use a smart level to bring your pitch and roll withing .1 (one tenth). You should be able to shim it to accomplish this. Make sure the AHRS mounting bracket is stout and is a part of the aircraft. No need to use any dampening material, but make sure the mount is solid. Do this as well as go through a proper AHRS calibration after the airplane is ready to fly and you will be rewarded with mind-blowing accuracy! Call me if you need any additional help. When I installed the mounting bracket I managed to worry it into +/- 0.1 degree from the manual's recommended settings, so I think we're going to be ok in that regard.
