Subject: Legacy Cockpit Mod Annunciator Panel

Many have asked about the details of our Legacy cockpit mod annunciator panel.  I’ve been irritated by most GA annunciator panels ever since I had a vacuum pump failure IFR and the first alert I received was ATC asking where I was going…  The annunciator was so small and dim it was useless and the vacuum gauge didn’t get scanned as often as the flight instruments.

This is just my first cut at some items requiring urgent pilot response.

It’s organized into three basic categories represented by the rows:  Configuration, Engine, and Electrical.  The landing gear, flaps, and speed brakes respond as a function of airspeed and power level (eg. going slow should be in landing configuration, going fast you should be in cruise configuration…).  Bus 1 and Bus 2 respond to bus voltage level.  The far left lights illuminate if anything in that category/row is out of spec.  There’s no vacuum pressure annunciator because we’re going all electric – the MTBF (mean time between failures) of vacuum pumps is too low for me.

I’m sure we’ve missed some things – any comments or suggestions?
