Following up on Bill Hogarty's questions.
1. No, I do not remember static wicks, but my only pic of the plane is at a
bad angle to double check.
2. I have no knowledge of an electrical connection between the wing root and
the fuselage.
3. If there is not connection, the carbon fiber stops at the wing root
fairing. The exit burn was on the wing close to the wing root fairing.
