MessageI originally put thin nut plates on. I had to remove the center hinge because I discovered after I installed it the way the manual suggests, that the center of the horz. stab is not the center of the elevators. I can't remove the plate it is hysol'd into eternity. so I ground off the rivets to remove the nuts and floxed the holes. Now I can make new nut plates to hysol over the old plates, re'drill, and use a longer bolt. Except this time I will mock the nut plates in place and make sure everything fits. If it does than Hysol time. If not then flox time again. The holes in the spar only support the bolts around the circumference. The aprox. 2.5 x 2 nut plates are what is doing the work. The compression of the bolt will be distributed by the nut plate card, and the compression radii will depend on the thickness of the plate. I purchased the epoxy/glass board from McMaster Carr, they have stock of material that has a lot of plys for as thin as it is and is quite rigid.
Thanks
