I would offer my experience using the Ohaus Scout balance. We tried two at
work and they broke, went out of calibration, etc. constantly during a month
of production use. If you don't plan to use the balance much, the Chinese
balances with major names on them such as the Ohaus Scout might work fine,
but is it a good idea to chance a $70 balance on a $70K+ project where one
of the major factors of bond strength is the mixture ratio? We tried many
Chinese balances to try and save money and not one really worked at all.
Also, all of the ones we tested were made by the same factory in China, just
with different labels! We went back to buying Sartorius balances because
they always worked for us and really take abuse. In the long run, we ended
up saving money.
I used a 25+ year old unit on my project that I bought used for $110 ten
yeas ago and I check it annually and it is still in calibration after
constant use for 5 years. I saw that there were several in that
inflation-adjusted/approximate price range on Ebay. Just seems like that
would be a better investment overall. MHO
> I'm also looking at the Ohaus Scout CS200 (200G capacity with 0.1G
resolution and 0.1G accuracy (for $68.00).
