Return-Path: Received: from [64.45.218.85] (account ) by logan.com (CommuniGate Pro WebUser 4.0.5) with HTTP id 2007334 for ; Sun, 02 Feb 2003 21:41:17 -0500 From: "Marvin Kaye" Subject: Re: re , doug pohl , code of conduct To: lml X-Mailer: CommuniGate Pro Web Mailer v.4.0.5 Date: Sun, 02 Feb 2003 21:41:17 -0500 Message-ID: In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"; format="flowed" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Posted for "martin heisler" : i believe that all on this list have a right to speak freely on the site as we all have an interest in the same aircraft. what mr bartell had to say to about engineair was his right to speak freely , but he gave his comments off line , not publicly. yes he has an interest in the walter and continental sales and make money off the sales he promotes , he should , these engines make the lancairs possible and as safe as any. if an engine for his planes is not working properly , failing or not being delivered , who would promote it? the investors i would think. as to the 2 dead stick you had , please tell us the actual facts of your engine related problems . i heard that the first was a dead stick landing or a partial power situation , but there was damage to your aircraft and thankfully you were not hurt. the second i hear was a gearbox failure on the ground , if so , you were lucky it was not in the air , it may have been your final flight. how were the promised deliverys of these powerplants? a friend of mine never recieved his , but someone did recieve his money . there are problems in development and it does take tons of money to get there . i do not think these products should be rushed to market and sold on promises and developed with customers money . they should only go to market after extensive testing and proving they are safe enough to carry us into the air . if there is a failure we cannot just pull over and wait for a tow. i think that the bickering as you say helps us all to think , keep your heads up and eyes open , and make our own decisions. as to the good and bad comments , at least we hear and learn about things that may affect our own projects , that we may not hear about otherwise. i think that alot of the the comments are taken as criticizim by the manufacturer but are just the facts to the others. it does take alot of money to develop these new and not always better products and we are not all millionairs , so the customer cannot afford to lose the kind of money it takes to buy these products . the manufacturer injects the untold amounts of money into their dream of developing a newbetter product , it is their dream and desire to do this. the buyer just wants a safe usefull product. as for the code of conduct , this is great for the manufacturers that the customers depend on. if a manufacturer has a problem that people talk about, then address the problem publicly and express how the company plans to overcome it , then speak out when it is corrected, tested and proven. if someone hears or percieves there is a problem with something , then this is a great place to say it and get a variety of views , thoughts and hopefully the real facts. there is another V8 project going into some lancairs , the eagle 540 , i do not hear alot from them , maybe because they are slowly developing their product to safe , reliable, performance standards before telling us how good they are. i hope so. i have seen their package and been to their shop , it looks great but that is as much as i can say about it as i have not seen it run. i hope they have the best of success. i think that the code of conduct here is o.k. if it leads to a disagreement/arguement fine , we can learn from this. too often things that can greatly affect many are covered up for the sake of money. i came to this site to hear about problems......
