It is now official. The FIA World Federation announced on January 30, 2003 that Two C-1c World Speed Records had been ratified.
C-1c Group 2 : Turboprop Landplane speed record over a straight 3 Km course at restricted altitude was flown by Lee Behel in the Lancair Sentry IV/PT to a speed of 570.33 km/h breaking the old record of 432.90 km/h
C-1c Group 1: Piston Landplane speed record over a straight 3 Km course at restricted altitude was flown by Rick Schrameck in the Supercharged Lancair Legacy to a speed of 555.33 km/h breaking the old record of 505.14 km/h.
Note: both planes were 40 to 50 MPH faster than the Huges H-1 racer
