Subject: Narrow Beam MR-16 bulbs for Landing Lights

I just tried some 7 degree beam MR-16 (the two inch 2 pin type) bulbs to
replace my 13 degree bulbs for landing lights.  They are a significant
improvement.  The runway threshold and numbers become visible from twice the
distance as before while still providing plenty of nearby lighting of the
runway surface in the flair.  The taxi and takeoff illumination is improved
too.  Mine are mounted in each wingtip.  Marshall Michaelian
<mmichaelian@attbi.com> had these bulbs specially made up with a guy from GE
since it seems the narrowest beam commercially available is 13 degrees.  They
are 12V, 100 watts and Marshall's got a supply of them.  If you are using
MR-16 bulbs currently, you should check these out.
