Be a little careful here.
I know of a IVP that lost the cowling on an early test flight - probably
(IMHO) due to the hinges coming loose. These were aluminum and were riveted
on - not bonded to my knowledge. Bottom line - whatever you do - make
sure they are well secured. Luckily the test pilot was able to land the
plane in spite of damage to the tail assembly as the cowling halves departed
the airframe.

We used hinge with no rivets on my ES and have had no problems with it. I
have the hinges along the sides and vertically on the lower cowl at the
firewall. We drilled holes in the hinge material, bonded them to the cowl
with hysol and a little flox, then put 2 BID over them. They aren't going
anywhere!
