Just Curious.. I to have the 'black strip ant.' It came w/ our kit which we
bought second hand. I was always of the impression that it was a com ant.
could I be wrong in this? We have the transponder ant. mounted in the wing
tip inboard of the outer rib. It was installed when we purchased the a/c, as
well as a similar ant. in the opposite tip for DME. Both of them have a
small rod in the center w/ a rectangular copper grnd plane.I'm not sure who
made them however the builder claimed that he'd had them check by a
avionics' buddy and his equip. and they are all 'set' . Anyone using these
type of antenna's? are they good/ bad?  We also have some other ant.
installations that have me scratching my head. I'm not sure who to talk to
about them either .. Its not going to be a problem I'll just end up not
using them all. However I'm still curious.
